The holidays are here and so are more delivery trucks

Connecticut residents who are ahead of the holiday gift-buying game may have already finished making their purchases for their friends, family members and co-workers. Everyone else, though, may be waiting for Black Friday deals and the rush of last-minute shopping that so many people undertake each and every December. While some may still walk into brick-and-mortar stores to make their gift selections, more will shop online and have their purchases delivered to their doors.

As online buying increases, so too may the prevalence of delivery trucks on local New Haven roads. Delivery companies like UPS, FedEx and others often hire extra drivers and delivery personnel to keep up with the demands of their services and the crush of packages that must make it to their destinations before Christmas day.

As more trucks take to the roads and workers push themselves later into the night to get their deliveries made, drivers may experience more accidents with trucks than they do during other times of the year.

Accidents with commercial vehicles like delivery trucks can introduce complications into personal injury litigation that do not exist in standard motor vehicle accident lawsuits. For this reason, when victims are hurt in delivery truck accidents it is important that they work with legal advisers who are prepared to take on commercial defendants.

The Gillis Law Firm hopes that the readers of its legal blog stay safe this Thanksgiving and throughout the entire winter holiday season. Those that do suffer harm, though, should not endure their hardships alone. The attorneys of the firm are prepared to support them from the start of their personal injury claims.
